About the origins of his work says Vince Fraser:
It was my knowledge of the Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo, who 500 years ago had the first fantastic portraits of composite objects - eg from fruits and vegetables - painted. These images have always fascinated me and to my "mechanist" inspired. People today constantly intercept a tremendous flood of various information that must be processed in the head. These challenges I have tried to depict, in which fragments of mechanical and metal components have a collage mounted to a head. Only lips, eyes, nose as body parts - human thought is the compass - recognizable.
